Story Retelling

My students love to re-tell stories! They feel so successful when they can "read" all by themselves. They also love to use props to help them re-tell.

Sometimes this is an individual activity, but more often it become a group activity, which is so much fun to watch. All of the students gather around the felt board, take a story prop (in this case, an animal from Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? by Eric Carle), and take turns adding their piece and "reading" the verse from the book.
