Kids' Quotes

While I was home sick today, I decided to try and organize some of the pre-K documents on my computer. I came across the funny quotes I've recorded from the kiddos over the past few years. Here are just some of them (names changed):

Shaving Cream

I try not to do this activity too often, just to maintain the excitement, but every time I pull out the shaving cream from the cabinet, the kiddos go nuts and I'm reminded of just how many skills kiddos can practice without ever realizing it!

Field Trip to Eastern Market

Being in DC, on Capitol Hill, we are fortunate to near lots of opportunities for free educational field trips.

Story Retelling

My students love to re-tell stories! They feel so successful when they can "read" all by themselves. They also love to use props to help them re-tell.

Papier Mâché

Papier mâché is a great project for preschoolers, as long as you're prepared with plenty of newspaper and smocks.

Writing Center

It's been a couple years since I made these, but now that I've rediscovered the picture, I think I'm going to make them again!

This picture is from a few years ago but reminded me of a great activity that I'd done with my students.

Teacher Look

I've come a long way since I first started teaching four years ago. Back then, I was a very different teacher -- inexperienced, anxious, idealistic, and unprepared. Most notably, I had not yet developed my "teacher-face."

Teaching is not easy.  But it helps to have great colleagues, supportive friends and family, a welcoming community, and excited students.  Fortunately, I have been blessed with all of these things in abundance.  I initially started this project as an "Early Childhood Classroom" blog so that I could share the experiences I was having in my fourth year teaching.  Life got in the way though and I stopped posting for quite awhile.  I've decided to try and pick up where I left off, sharing ideas, resources, and activities related to my classroom.
